Inside Service... TOILETRY DRIVE (1 service point)
The Toiletry drive is for a non-profit organization in Delaware called AIDS Delaware. The mission of the organization is to halt the spread of HIV/AIDS by providing:
1)Comprehensive social and support services to clients and their families;
2) Advocacy for compassionate public policy;
3) Prevention and education programs addressing unsafe sexual and drug use behaviors. The non-profit gives out care packages to their clients every month. Their clients depend on these products because they can't afford to buy them. Food stamp programs consider soap a luxury! Which means that many depend on the AIDS delaware for their bare necessities. What NSCS collects will be going to dozens of clients, who in this rough economic time, have a need greater than our own.

Acceptable items to bring:
Lotions
Toothpaste and Toothbrushes
Toilet paper
Hair brushes and accesories
Face Cleansers and creams
Feminine Products
Shampoo and Conditioner

***ABSOLUTELY NO SAMPLE PACKETS, all items must be FULL sized products***

EACH person participating is Required to:
Bring Minimum 2 ITEMS <<<< Must bring items in a plastic bag

Outside Service Event

This coming weekend (October 10th) our University is hosting a Terp-Themed water station for the Baltimore Running Festival (Under Armour Marathon). This is a really big event and the coordinator contacted our NSCS chapter to ask us if we had any NSCS students who would be willing to go and volunteer for the day. They need some people to help set up the water handing-out station before the race, hand out water during the race, and help clean up at the end. It sounds like its going to be a really fun event in Baltimore!

For participating in this event, you will get all 3 of the outside service points to be considered as an "active" member.

To sign up go to http://alumni.umd.edu/events.cfm?event=2041 and email James Parker at jparker@umd.edu with any questions.
